
After more than two decades, CHAA’s Annual Conference is back and returning with a bang this year! Last held in 2004, we are thrilled to reignite its legacy this year.
Join us for CHAA’s relaunched annual conference, Called to Care 2025, on May 13–14, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta’s vibrant capital city. The conference will take place at the Queen Elizabeth II Building on the Alberta Legislative Grounds and the Edmonton Convention Centre in downtown Edmonton. This landmark event promises to inspire and connect leaders in continuing care, bringing together up to 150 leaders and decision-makers from across sectors, including continuing care, health care, seniors’ services, and government.

Speaking Opportunities
We are looking for passionate professionals in the field of continuing care to share their expertise and insights on a variety of topics. Individuals or groups are invited to submit abstracts or presentation summaries for oral, panel or workshop-style sessions. Submissions should relate to the overall conference theme or to any topic of interest to the sector, including any of the sub-themes listed below. Presentations of a commercial nature will not be considered unless they are part of broader research, quality improvement, or innovation topics aligned with the conference theme.
Values-Based Governance and Leadership: Purposeful governance models, thought leadership, and/or management strategies that foster high performing organizations capable of attaining high standards and optimal outcomes.
Compassion, Caring and Values - From Theory to Practice: Exploring the role of empathy, respect, integrity, dignity and other values in shaping organizational policies and practices while enhancing residents’ quality of life and cultivating a values-driven workforce.
Transformation, Growth and Sustainability: New and emerging strategies to expand capacity, increase system responsiveness, challenge conventional silos and boundaries, streamline service delivery, and boost efficiency while staying true to the values of client-focused care.
Innovation Through Collaboration: Examining the role and impact of social enterprise, community and government partnerships, philanthropy and volunteerism to leverage resources, and build capacity across communities, residents, staff, and providers.
Eligible Presenters
Sector representatives and organizations from any non-profit, private, government, academic, commercial or other organization is eligible to submit, as long as the topic aligns with the conference theme. Government and policymaker representatives may submit presentation summaries involving consultation, collaboration, or problem-solving with sector representatives. Private individuals sharing a resident, client, or consumer perspective are also welcome if the topic is relevant and suited to the audience.
